twilight. (osi)

' twilight art '

ballet of the haves and have-nots
visible and invisible
a darkness tangoes with the light

his chiaroscuro options
let the day's hard earned dollar find
some orange juice or black coffee

each dusk is a glowing art work
but alchemies of poverty
simply convert that gold to coal *.

  1. Love how the painterly words and words from performing arts harmonise and level the gold to coal at twilight! Delightful!

  2. There seems to be something of a bitter twist to this. Time to try some decaff made with warm milk.

  3. At first gentle, but becoming powerful towards the end. Alchemy, indeed - in words.

  4. Such alchemies are the artwork of ordinary life. Well done!

  6. your words remind me of burdens that are amplified in the narrowing light...though they are not devoid of hope for even the simple choice or result is also good

  9. so many people live in that twilight world, neither officially poor, nor secure (much less affluent); potent poem on a powerful subject.

  13. Hi zoya--
This is something I think about sometimes--how can those who do not have enough to eat or warm themselves and family appreciate beauty or art...I'm sure there is some acknowledgement, but the hunger or cold pains and especially the hunger or cold of one's children, must drown out most other stimuli--

Thank you for this grounding poem--as always, you bring such important insight--

  21. "a darkness tangoes with the light"- I love this line! And that is what twilight does, doesn't it?

  22. Zoya, I can just see your piece of art now. There is no more seeing of class or status at the end. Memories yes, but then things become blurred and don't matter anymore. Thank you.

  23. Sometimes the working day hours bring what seems to be gold until we go shopping with it and find it is no more than a lump of coal in the pocket as the value of cash keeps losing it`s value.

You bring the tale of the economy to light in this piece.
